Guide To Our Facilities

In the mid 1870s Morocco Church began meeting at Morocco School. During the late 1880s we built our own facility across the road. In the early 1950s Morocco Church bought the closed Morocco schoolhouse from the Ida School district. Later, we built a parsonage (a home for our pastor) on the schoolhouse property and began using the schoolhouse as a fellowship hall, group meetings, and classes.

Today, we use both properties. That means we have a "North Campus" and a "South Campus" (sounds impressive, doesn't it! :-D ). The North campus is about 5 acres, and contains the original church facility, plus various additions like our current fellowship hall. Our main parking lot is also on this side of the road. On the South campus we are converting the ranch-style building originally used as a home for our pastors into a ministry center and office center. It features our youth center, kids's center, classrooms, a second kitchen facility, and offices. The South campus also has the original 1875 schoolhouse, which is currently used for storage.

Heads Up! MapQuest vs the US Post Office

Consumer Energy assigns road numbers. The Postal Service assigns postal service. Morocco sits on the line between Temperance and Ida post offices. The Postal Service and Consumers are not always on the same page.

We have addresses for the school house, the worship & fellowship center (the original church), and the ministry center. The US Postal service assigned the North campus to Ida. The South Campus was assigned to Temperance.

Meanwhile, Consumers gave Temperance addresses to both the North and the South Campuses. The result is that we have three buildings with addresses, but four postal addresses. Go figure.

Why'd we tell you all this?

First, we want you to know what to expect when you come to our church. Now you know about both the North and South campuses.

Second, if you do a MapQuest for our 12203 Jackman Road address, you need to use "Ida" as our city, otherwise it won't show us. For our Ministry Center and Mailing address (1633. W. Morocco Road), you have to use Temperance as our city in order for us to pull up on Mapquest.

Third: Caution - Despite the Ida address for MapQuest, Ida does not currently deliver mail to us. So if you send any mail to our Ida address, we won't get it. However, you can send mail to any of our addresses through Temperance. We ask that you use the following mailing address:

We apologize for the confusion. Perhaps one of these days we'll get the US Post Office to find a common sense solution. In the meantime, we aren't holding our breath! ;)

Bottom line for you, we want you to find us and send mail to us successfully! And we want you to know that, despite the appearance that we have facilities scattered across multiple cities, we are in a single, centralized location at the corners of Jackman and Morocco Roads, with our North campus on the Northwest corner, and our South campus on the Southwest corner, across Morocco Road.

Plus, we are centrally located between Temperance and Ida, 1 mile West of Lewis Ave. Come visit!
